When it comes to luxury brand cars, there is higher security involved and more sophisticated procedures that technicians or auto locksmiths must have to perform a good job. For BMW vehicles, this is no exception. Your BMW keys may stop working or simply go missing; equally worse, you could get locked out and if you need to get back on the road right away, this is a big inconvenince.
Prolocksmith Orlando has been offering BMW key replacement services for over 20 years. We have gathered the knowledge and the experience to create, on the spot, a new BMW key, BMW smart key, BMW key fob, BMW transponder key, using high-end technologies and procedures. We offer on-site services in the greater Orlando area, including the Osceola, Orange, and Seminole counties.
From car lockouts and car key replacements to broken key extractions and ignition replacement, our knowledgeable locksmiths can turn a stressful situation into a positive experience in a matter of mere minutes!
Losing your car keys can be frustrating but also a highly inconvenient situation. Most people do not have a spare key they can use right away, and calling the dealership is not always as straigthforward as we would want it.
At Prolocksmith Orlando, the mobile locksmith service is what differentiates us from the rest. We have the technology, knowledge, and experience to reproduce all types of keys for BMW keys, We cover all the Orlando zip codes but also the areas in the Osceola County, Orange County and Jacksonville, FL.
There are several types of BMW keys which, of course, may vary depending on the year and model of your BMW.
At Prolocksmith, we aim to help you and provide information so here is a quick checklist of BMW types of keys so you can point out the one you have:
After 1998, BMW moved to a more sophisticated type of security key with a system known as EWS, which means Early Warning System. This is a small grey box module that is present in almost every BMW vehicle up to 2006, being the BMW X5 2006 the latest model using the EWS. These are known as Transponder Keys
In 2006, BMW change the EWS to another security protocol for their keys, which is known as CAS or Car Access System. At Prolocksmith, we successfully work with CAS-2, CAS-3, CAS-3+Stop and CAS-4. We can produce a BMW smart Key on the spot no matter which CAS system your vehicle uses.
This type of BMW key fob is commonly known as a "slot" key since the fob carries a little metallic piece that users have to introduce in the key slot to later start the vehicle by pressing a button. BMW produced models with CAS systems right up to 2015 and from then, they evolve once more.
From 2015 up to the present, BMW has been using a new system called FEM, which means Front Electronic Module. This is a high-technology computer based on the vehicle's engine and it controls all the other components of the vehicle. It is considered the security control unit of the entire vehicle.
At Prolocksmith, we have managed to successfully work with BMW and their FEM system thanks to our cutting-edge technology and procedures that allow us to create on the spot even the latest BMW key fobs.
The battery in your BMW key may be dying or dead and this is something you can fix yourself. In the E5 or E7 series BMW, the key fob probably has a rechargeable battery. Inserting it in the ignition slot and driving will recharge the battery. For a more recent fob, it probably has a CR2450 or a CR2032 battery to replace.
Changing the battery in the BMW key fob is not really possible for the series using the EWS and CAS systems. As mentioned, these models use a rechargeable battery that is welded to the interior of the key. Once their lifespan has come to end, there is no way to change that battery without damaging the key, so you would need a new aftermarket BMW key fob altogether.
So, how much does it cost to replace a BMW key? As you can see, there several types of keys your BMW may use, but more than that, every situation and every case are different.
At Prolocksmith, your trusted locksmith in Orlando, we can help you on the spot to produce a new BMW key, but a deeper evaluation from our technicians is needed in these cases.
